A casual glance at a map of the United Kingdom and Ireland will show a confusing network of motorways, roads and railways. A closer look at a larger scale map will reveal a multitude of country lanes and byways, and of a countryside full of quiet villages, churches, stately homes and much, much more. This is Moorland Rover country. Avoiding main roads wherever possible and traveling along backroads and byways you will be shown a countryside steeped in history.

However, one of the main advantages of touring with a smaller group is the element of flexibility that can be absorbed in the itinerary to make each day less rigid and more enjoyable. We try to make the most of our ability to take account of personal or group preferences, local events and prevailing weather conditions. As a result no two tours with Moorland Rover are exactly the same. We can promise you therefore

Wandering with Moorland Rover
Every year the Moorland Rover schedule includes several leisurely walking holidays. For part of the day you enjoy an easy stroll through the countryside. The pace is leisurely, and there is plenty of time to stop and stare and take photographs. You do not need to be super fit as the accent is on leisurely enjoyment: each walk is planned to make the most of our beautiful, varied and unspoiled countryside. Each day's walk is about five miles at the most, and a guide is usually on hand if you want to rest awhile. Look for the word 'wander' included in the holiday title on the touring schedule.

Comfortable Travel
Traveling with Moorland Rover could not be more comfortable. You ride in a small purpose built mini coach with a maximum of 12 seats. There is full head (6'2'') and leg room, large picture windows and roof lights for easy viewing. All seats are upholstered and have inertia reel seatbelts.

The vehicle is small enough to be able to reach places that are definitely 'out of bounds' to even medium sized coaches, and you sit high enough to see over most walls and hedgerows to have the best of both worlds.

For everybody's comfort we ask you not to smoke in the vehicle.

Single Centred Holidays
With one or two exceptions Moorland Rover holidays are centred on one place, so there is no hurried packing and unpacking and no time wasted rushing from one hotel to the next. Our relaxed itineraries provide the opportunity for you to gather a deeper awareness and appreciation of the many aspects of the area you choose for your holiday and get you 'Closer to the Countryside'.
